Market Timing Analysis
This document evaluates whether now is the right moment for AI Wallet and the durability of the opportunity window. Objective: Compile signals, risks, and leading indicators that justify investment and inform pacing.
Key Insights
- AI VC is hot but concentrated: AI was ~53% of global VC and ~64% of US VC in 2025 - that is insane concentration. Large checks cluster around a few giants (Anthropic, OpenAI, xAI); early-stage recovery exists but remains selective.
- Funding concentration reality: AI startups pulled in ~$89B of VC in 2025, about a third of all global VC, but funding is heavily concentrated in very few companies. Median US SaaS pre-seed is around $700k; market has "corrected" from 2021 and investors are more picky.
- Dual-track approach: apply to YC as an accelerant while running a direct angels/pre-seed path in parallel; YC is a multiplier, not a gate. Don't distort roadmap for arbitrary deadlines — real usage + LOIs matter most.
- Don't over-optimize for 1 deadline: focus on shipping MVP + securing 3–5 design partners/LOIs; real usage beats vanity traction. Q3 2025 seed funding actually dipped QoQ and is only modestly up YoY.
- Exposure risk is overstated: idea space is known; edge comes from speed, UX quality, and landing integrations. The real scarce resource is time, not the high-level idea.

Decisions/Implications
- US-first sprint for 6–8 weeks to land 10–15 design partners; use those signals for both YC and angels/VCs.
- Narrative discipline: public/partners message = “Stripe + OAuth for AI usage, not an app store”; investor message includes optionality toward distribution.
- Leading indicators to track: #integrations, budget enforcement events, receipt exports, weekly active users, and partner pipeline velocity.
Next Actions
- Time-box YC application; compile honest signals (GITEX interest, build plan, early partners).
- Build an investors/angels target list; schedule first 10 conversations aligned to MVP timeline.
- Instrument the above leading indicators; publish a weekly market-timing dashboard in Command Center.
